This Sunday, 20 September 2026, brings a fairly settled autumn day for much of the UK, with a good deal of dry weather around and temperatures feeling pleasantly mild in the south. Across the south-east and parts of the east, it should stay dry, with cloud at times but some brighter spells developing, especially into the afternoon. Highs here will reach around 20 or 21°C, so fairly comfortable if you’re out and about. Wales and much of the Midlands also have a largely dry day ahead. There may be a rather grey start in places, but the afternoon should offer a few more breaks in the cloud, with temperatures generally between 18 and 20°C. The south-west is the one area where you may notice a little dampness at times, with some light drizzle possible earlier in the day. Nothing too disruptive, but perhaps enough to make pavements and roads a bit slick. It should brighten later, particularly towards the evening, with highs close to 20°C. Further north, across northern England and into Scotland, it will feel fresher, with temperatures mostly in the mid to high teens. It should stay largely dry, but the wind will be more noticeable, especially around exposed coasts and higher ground, so it may feel a touch cooler than the thermometer suggests. Northern Ireland also has a mostly dry picture, with some brightness at times and highs around 17°C. So overall, a calm and usable autumn Sunday for most: not wall-to-wall sunshine, but plenty of dry weather, mildest in the south, and breezier further north and around western and eastern coastal areas.
