The Midlands should have a largely dry and mild day, with temperatures around 20 or 21°C. Expect a good deal of cloud at times, but little in the way of rain, so outdoor plans should mostly be fine — perhaps just keep a light jacket handy in the breeze. Further north across northern England, it’s a fresher picture, with highs generally in the upper teens. Some early patchy rain or drizzle is possible in the north-west, but there should be brighter intervals developing by late morning and into the afternoon. North-eastern areas may see some sunshine too, particularly later on, though it will feel a little brisk in the wind. Wales looks more unsettled, especially around the middle of the day, with a spell of rain likely around lunchtime and into the early afternoon. It won’t be especially cold, with temperatures close to 19°C, but it may be damp enough to affect travel and outdoor events for a time. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cooler and breezier, with temperatures mostly in the mid-teens. Rainfall amounts are small, but there may be occasional drizzle. Early brightness is possible, though cloud will tend to come and go through the day. So, overall: mild in the south, cooler and breezier further north, with the wettest spell most likely across Wales around midday. A useful day for layers — and perhaps an umbrella in the west.
