For the south-east, it’s a damp start in places, with outbreaks of rain through the morning and another spell possible around lunchtime. It’ll still feel fairly mild, with highs around 21°C, but you may want the waterproofs if you’re heading out early or travelling. Across the Midlands, some overnight and early morning rain should gradually ease, leaving a brighter and drier feel later in the day. Temperatures here will be among the mildest, reaching around 21 or 22°C. Wales sees a rather grey, wet spell during the morning, with some steady rain for a time and a brisk breeze near exposed coasts. Conditions should improve somewhat later, though it may stay quite cloudy. Further north, much of northern England has a more settled day ahead. It should be largely dry, with some pleasant sunny breaks, especially into the late morning and afternoon. Temperatures range from the high teens to low 20s, so it could feel quite comfortable where the sun comes through. Scotland also has a quieter day, generally dry with variable cloud and some sunshine at times. It’ll be cooler than further south, with highs around 16 or 17°C, but winds are light, so not too harsh for early autumn. Northern Ireland may see the odd patch of light rain or drizzle, but for many it’s simply a cloudy, fairly calm day, with temperatures in the mid to high teens. The south-west looks mainly dry, though a fresh breeze could be noticeable around coastal areas. With temperatures close to 20°C, it should be a decent day for outdoor plans, especially away from exposed shores. So, in summary: damp at times across parts of the south, Wales and the Midlands, especially earlier on, but drier and brighter further north and west. Mild for many, though with that unmistakable September softness in the air.
