The best of the dry weather is likely across the south-east and the south-west, where many will get through the day without rain. Temperatures here should feel fairly comfortable, reaching around 18°C in the south-west and closer to 21°C in the south-east, with some late sunshine to round off the day. Across the Midlands and parts of eastern England, it’s a mostly cloudy picture at times, with the odd light shower or spot of drizzle possible. That said, there should be brighter breaks developing later, especially into the evening, so outdoor plans may fare better after the working day. Wales starts off rather damp in places, and it stays on the cool side for June, with highs around 16°C. Northern England sees a more unsettled day, with rain around during the morning in the west and further showers cropping up later towards the east. It will also be breezy, so it may feel fresher than the thermometer suggests. Scotland has a grey, rather drizzly feel in places, though a few early brighter spells are possible. Temperatures sit in the mid to high teens, with a brisk breeze adding a cooler edge, particularly in exposed areas. Northern Ireland also sees some patchy light rain or drizzle, but not all the time, and there should be some brighter intervals too. Winds will be noticeable quite widely, strongest around western and northern coastal areas, so travel on exposed routes and ferry crossings could feel a little choppy. Overall, not a washout by any means, but worth keeping a light waterproof handy if you’re out and about — and perhaps making the most of those brighter breaks later in the day.
