Thursday 26th February Good morning, everyone! It’s Thursday, 26th February 2026, and as we delve deeper into winter, let’s see what the UK weather has in store for us today. Starting off in the south-east, we're experiencing some mild conditions for this time of year, with temperatures peaking at around 14°C. It’s looking bright and dry here, with just a bit of a brisk breeze to contend with — a great excuse to get outside and make the most of the dry spell. Turning our attention to western parts, including Wales and the south-west, we’re seeing a very different picture. Expect a rather soggy afternoon with quite persistent rainfall from mid-afternoon onward, particularly in places like Cardiff and Plymouth. If you’re venturing outdoors, do remember your raincoats and wellies. Stronger winds might also make things a bit blustery along the coast. In the Midlands, things start off relatively dry but become progressively wetter as we move into the afternoon and early evening. Rain showers are expected, likely to impact those heading out for late lunches or early dinners, so plan accordingly. Northern England has some unsettled weather too, with intermittent showers throughout the day, especially late afternoon. However, it’s worth noting that there might be occasional sunny interludes earlier on, just enough to tempt you out briefly before the rain returns. Scotland is experiencing a mixed bag as well. The day will have periods of light rain, and with the wind picking up a bit, it can feel quite nippy. But, if you’re in the eastern parts, do look out for some sunny spells later in the evening, which might brighten up your walk home. Lastly, over in Northern Ireland, early risers may catch some rain in the morning hours, but conditions should ease as the day progresses. It’s mild enough to be out and about comfortably, though, so do grab the chance when it presents itself. So, a bit of a mixed bag across the nation with a combination of rain and the odd sunny spell here and there. If you’re travelling today, some additional time might be well spent sheltering from the rain. On the flip side, the splashes of sunshine here and there could provide a lovely backdrop for any leisurely moments outdoors. Do take care on those wet roads and stay warm, wherever you are.
