Across northern England, there will be a mix of cloud, showers and a few brighter spells, with rain more likely into the afternoon before some clearer intervals develop later in the day. Scotland looks fairly cloudy and cool, with a little light rain or drizzle at times, though parts of the east may see some late brightness towards evening. Across eastern England, a damp start is possible, with patchy rain early on before the day becomes more mixed. The Midlands look set for one of the wetter spells, particularly later in the day and into the evening, so keep the waterproofs handy if you have plans after work or school. Wales will also see showery rain at times, while the south-west has a changeable feel — some early brightness, but further showers likely, especially later in the afternoon. So, in short: cool, breezy and unsettled, with showers never too far away. There will be some usable brighter windows, but it’s a day to keep an eye on the sky and take a coat if you’re heading out.
