Across the UK, we've got a bit of a mixed bag with the weather today, so let's dive in. We'll start off in the south-east where your day begins chilly with a chance of showers around mid-morning. You'll need your brolly at the ready early on, but as the afternoon rolls in, we can look forward to drier and clearer conditions. The temperatures here will hover around 9°C, so do layer up if you're stepping out. Over in the Midlands, expect a rather grey start with rain showers peppering the morning journey, particularly around 4 am and taking another turn for the wet in the mid-afternoon. Despite the rain, temperatures should peak at a modest 7°C. Keep yourself warm and perhaps consider that extra cup of tea. Northern England will have a wet start, especially for those of you further west. With rain throughout the early hours, things will gradually start to clear as we move towards midday. Winds will add an extra chill, with gusts speeding up to around 30 km/h. Keep that in mind if you're commuting. Scotland is seeing a more amicable picture today. After a rather brisk start, much of the day will remain dry with spells of sunshine peeking through. Temperatures will be around 8°C at their warmest, so while not quite picnic weather, it's decent for a saunter through the park. Wales is starting off damp but will see a swift transition mid-morning with sunshine spilling through the clouds. With highs of about 9°C, a gentle breeze will accompany you throughout the day, adding a spring to your step. For those across to the west in Northern Ireland, the early morning sunshine gives a hint of the brighter spots of the day, although rain will linger, particularly earlier in the morning. By the afternoon, it should be dry and overcast, with temperatures reaching just shy of 8°C. Lastly, in the south-west, you'll greet the day with sunshine breaking through early, providing a lovely, albeit brisk, start. Although temperatures stay in the upper single digits, the relative dryness should make for pleasant walking weather if you find yourself yearning for some fresh air.
