Monday 26th January Good morning, and a very warm welcome to Monday, the 26th of January, 2026. It's the heart of winter here in the UK, and today brings quite a spectrum of weather across our regions. Let’s take a closer look at what the day has in store. Starting in the south-east, it's a dry day with a high of around 7°C. Although it stays largely dry, do have a brolly on hand for a slight chance of a drizzly moment. The day remains quite settled with a gentle breeze sweeping through. Into the Midlands, expect a chilly day with temperatures peaking just under 5°C. Rain showers are on the cards for later in the evening, so if you’re commuting home late, you might want your raincoat. Wales will see a mix of conditions, with some charming sunny spells early, but unfortunately, the clouds will close in, bringing heavier showers by late afternoon. Winds are brisk, especially along the coast. In the south-west, where conditions are rather blustery, showers roll in as the day progresses. Expect highs of around 10°C, the mildest in the country, but with overcast skies making it feel cooler. Over in northern England, it's mostly dry all round, with Manchester seeing a touch of brightness amongst the cloud cover. Across the Pennines, the winds pick up but rain is unlikely to interrupt the day. Heading to Scotland, the day remains dry and frost-free, with a bit of wind adding to the chill factor. The capital will enjoy a dry day with barely a drop in sight, though temperatures languish around the 5°C mark. For Northern Ireland, skies turn grey with showers arriving later in the afternoon. A wet spell is expected, with temperatures slightly milder than elsewhere at around 7°C. Finally, the east of England keeps dry and crisp, with light winds making for a pleasant, albeit chilly, day.
