Starting in the south-east, it's a relatively mild day with highs around the 10°C mark. It's mostly dry, though a brisk wind might make it feel a touch cooler if you're out and about. Northern England is anticipating a cooler affair, with highs peaking at just over 6°C. Expect rain to greet you early in the morning, but this should ease as the day progresses, making way for some clearer skies. Over in Wales, it's a damp day on the cards with more than a splash of rain expected, especially during the morning hours. Winds here are noticeably strong, so those commuting might want to plan accordingly. The air will feel slightly warmer compared to elsewhere, reaching highs near 11°C. Heading to Scotland, a chilly day is expected, with temperatures struggling to get much past 6°C. It's largely dry here too, with only the odd shower, so a good day for a brisk walk if you’re well wrapped up. In Northern Ireland, however, pack your waterproofs if you’re heading outside. Substantial rain is expected particularly late morning, with gusty winds contributing to a decidedly wet feel to the day. The Midlands will see a typical December day, with the odd light shower and moderate breezes. Temperatures are sitting around the 9°C mark, not overly warm, but not the coldest of days. Similarly, the south-west is dealing with its share of rain, especially strong into the late morning, paired with a howling wind making for a blustery afternoon. Coastal areas in general are prone to brisk breezes today, so do secure any loose garden items and proceed with care if you’re travelling. With sunshine around this morning, the odd shower is possible later in the day, particularly in northern and western parts of the UK, where gusty winds make for a somewhat wintry experience.
