UK Weather

Sunday 23rd November

Hello and a very good Sunday morning, 23rd of November, to everyone tuning in. It seems we’ve got a proper autumnal day ahead across much of the UK, with a fair bit of rain to start things off.

Looking at the south-eastern corner, it’ll be a rather grey morning with some early showers kicking about, but things should dry up as the day unfolds. If you're heading out, perhaps take a brolly just in case — expect highs of around 11 degrees there.

Moving into the Midlands, it's a touch chillier with highs in the mid-8s. While the rain won't be as much of a bother, a damp start may give way to a few glimmers of sunshine come evening, which could be quite a nice surprise after a brisk day.

Up in northern England, they're waking up to a wet start, especially around breakfast time, but the rain should ease off. Temperatures are nudging just under 8 degrees in parts, so do wrap up warm if you’re venturing outside.

Over in Wales, a breezy day with gusts making it feel even cooler, despite highs of around 11 degrees. Heavy rain in the very early hours should taper off, but watch out for a few lingering showers as you go about your day.

Across to the western fringes, including Northern Ireland, you’ll see quite a bit of rain early on, tapering into the afternoon with highs just shy of 9 degrees. Have your waterproofs to hand if you're out and about.

Scotland will also start on a very wet note, particularly in central areas, and it'll stay rather chilly with temperatures struggling to rise much above 7 degrees. The rain is persistent, so definitely a day for those inside-coat-pocket snacks.

Down in the south-west, while the odd shower is possible, particularly in the early morning, it’s set to be the mildest spot in the country today, with temperatures reaching nearly 13 degrees. Winds are on the brisk side, so perhaps hold off on the seaside walks until it settles.

Finally, the east of England is also in for some showers this morning, easing as the day goes on. Temperatures are flirting with the 9-degree mark there.

Do keep an eye out for puddles if you’re on the roads or the footpaths, as water is likely to linger in spots after some substantial rainfall.

Have a fantastic Sunday, whatever you get up to, and let’s hope for a few more settled spells as we move through the week.

A blustery autumn day unfolds in a quaint Scottish village near Edinburgh, where rain drips steadily from the edges of sloping slate roofs. The vibrant hues of traditional stone cottages contrast against the grey sky, while villagers in colourful raincoats navigate puddle-strewn cobblestone streets. Beyond the cottages, a mist rises from the surrounding hills, adding a soft, ethereal quality to the landscape, as the gentle sway of autumn trees echoes the day's persistent rain.
